Trafikverket has two overlapping websites and needs to combine them into one. They asked us to help them understand how to migrate the data and create a unified website for their customers.
Our UX research team set out to identify all the user groups that interact with Trafikverket's websites and to understand their needs.
This was a crucial step in creating a requirement analysis to guide the integration of the website.

The research was carried out through user group interviews and various workshops. Furthermore, the assignment included analyzing completed interviews, compiling information, and formulating recommendations.
Talking to the users
We conducted a workshop with some of the stakeholders where we identified all the user groups that interact with the branch website.
Talking to the employee
By having internal interviews with Trafikverket’s employees, we gained an increased understanding of the user groups and their needs.
External interview
After gathering and analyzing all the insights from the internal interviews, we understood which areas to focus on during the external interview with the actual user groups.
Analyzing the data
Looking at all the gathered information we created a clear requirements analysis report for our stakeholders.
I gained several valuable insights from this assignment. Early in the project, I had limited experience with the client’s working environments. To adapt quickly, I reviewed existing frameworks and collaborated closely with project leaders and other designers in the team, which helped me deliver consistent design solutions within the first sprint.
Moreover, I improved my interviewing technique. For example, when participants gave vague answers, I used follow-up questions like ‘Can you walk me through the last time you did this?’ which resulted in more actionable insights. I lalso learned how to guide the conversation throughout the interviews much more efficiently, helping participants stay focused on the subject at hand and fostering productive discussions.
During workshops, I discovered effective ways to understand and identify the user group’s needs and pain points.
